The Pinewood Stage Company

Our award-winning students perform and compete throughout the school year on local, regional, and state levels.  Students are encouraged to compete in both group and in individual events to further their skills.  Participation in the school shows is also encouraged not only to further their skills but to create a lifelong appreciation for the arts.

Pinewood Middle School students receive nine weeks of drama class each of their three years in Middle School.  They learn the basics of acting, lighting, scenic design, costume design, makeup design, puppetry, shadow plays, and so much more.  Middle School students may also choose the drama elective as part of our middle school enrichment program.  The elective Middle School group attends competitions and performs full-length productions.

The Lower School's very own theater ensemble produced their first play in 2015-2016, An Evening of Shakespeare. Grades 4 and 5 may participate in the Lower School theater group.

Elective courses begin in High School where students may choose Introduction to Drama, Advanced Drama, and Honors Play Production.  The Advanced Drama and the Play Production classes attend various state and national competitions sponsored by International Thespian Society, South Carolina Speech and Theatre Association, and Palmetto Dramatic Association.
